The Tanneries Hotel & Spa brings new life to the historic Tabakaria neighborhood, one of Chania’s most iconic areas. The industrial buildings from the 1800s have been transformed into a luxurious retreat, with 20 suites ranging from 40 to 104 square meters, each offering breathtaking sea views and a peaceful escape from the bustling crowds. This thoughtful conversion is designed to appeal to travelers seeking an experience with depth and authenticity, not just luxury. The Tanneries Hotel & Spa is a hidden gem—bridging Chania’s past and perhaps unlocking its future.

As this was a rare, child-free vacation, I was looking for something a bit more Bougee than my usual family friendly choices. 
Chania appealed to me for its lively, artistic vibe, and I wanted a destination where we could spend our days exploring, eating, and soaking up the local atmosphere. I sought out a location that was both close to the action and on a quieter stretch, with one non-negotiable: being right on the water. With our room’s balcony overlooking the sea, this hotel certainly delivered on that wish.

In the end, our trip to Chania was everything I’d hoped for, and I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough! I’m already looking forward to booking it for my clients in the future.
